<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>There is some controversy regarding the impact of water hardness on the risk of stone formation. Therefore, this article presents a review of studies examining the impact of drinking water hardness on the development of urolithiasis. The role of hard or soft water in the development of urolithiasis remains controversial. When characterizing water, calcium, magnesium, and bicarbonate levels should be considered. According to modern literature, the prevalence of urolithiasis depends on regional climate conditions, environmental factors, the quality and quantity of water used, as well as the diet, lifestyle, gender, and age of the population.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>мочекаменная болезнь</kwd><kwd>МКБ</kwd><kwd>питьевые воды</kwd><kwd>жёсткость питьевых вод</kwd><kwd>кальций</kwd><kwd>магний</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>urolithiasis</kwd><kwd>urolithiasis</kwd><kwd>drinking water</kwd><kwd>drinking water hardness</kwd><kwd>calcium</kwd><kwd>magnesium</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group><funding-statement xml:lang="ru">Работа выполнена при поддержке внутреннего гранта № 11 «Влияние содержания кремния и других минералов в питьевой воде на распространённость заболеваний мочевыделительной системы» Кабардино-Балкарского государственного университета им. Х. М. Бербекова.</funding-statement></funding-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Борисова В.
